** I am now working through PsychCare Psychological Services in Silver Spring, offering both in-person and virtual sessions.**
If you are exploring your identity, making a transition, or coping with negative moods or experiences that you can’t change on your own, it is a brave and impressive decision to seek therapy. My years of experience have allowed me to witness the power, hope, and change that can come through therapy that creates a safe, warm, affirming, and confidential environment for growth.
I provide in-person and telepsychology (video therapy) services to adult individuals (18 and older) who live in Maryland. I use therapy methods that focus on strengths, empowerment, relationships, and strategies for coping with oppression and trauma. My early training was focused on relational-cultural, feminist, empowerment, and interpersonal therapies. Across my career, I have added methods from ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and mindfulness-based therapies.
My core values are that trans lives matter, black lives matter, and Asian lives matter. I am deeply committed to inclusion of social justice, critical consciousness, and systemic analysis in therapy.
I work predominantly with people from marginalized communities (especially LGBQIAA+, trans, and nonbinary folks), and specialize in:
- Depression
- Identity development and transition (especially for people with intersectional identities)
- Relationship challenges (including open/polyam/CNM relationships)
- Recovery from trauma (especially sexual violence)
- Surgery readiness/medical necessity evaluations for trans and nonbinary folk
- ADHD and executive functioning difficulties
- Parenting a child who has currently, or previously had, cancer
While I have done therapy and academic work related to marginalized communities for more than two decades, I strive to continually learn as our cultural context, language choices, and rights change.
I am an in-network provider on multiple insurance plans. For an updated list, please see PsychCare’s rates and insurance page.
